Writing for two different audiences

Grandpa & Grandma,

I just arrived at my new school, SUNY Oswego for the semester! I moved into my dorm just yesterday and I can’t wait to get started. I know you guys wanted to know a few things about this university and its campus. First of all, Oswego’s broadcasting program that I’m currently enrolled in is recognized as one of the nation’s finest. Many big name media personalities have graduated from SUNY Oswego like Steve Levy and Linda Cohn from ESPN and Al Roker from MSNBC. For also being a SUNY school with a relatively low tuition, the Broadcast program is one of the best valued programs in the entire SUNY system. Aside from the academics, Oswego has some of the best Division 3 sports in all of New York. If I ever wanted to catch a good game of any sport, it’s only a short walk to our campus center for a hockey game which is our tradition. The wide variety of sports also allows me to dive deep into sports broadcasting, which is where I want to take my career. Lastly, my advisors and counselors at this school have been very helpful. I showed up to this school with not a clue of how to register for my classes or how to go about my everyday life. With the help of these people, I have found my way here on campus. Other than that, I have been studying every night and even completing many of my assignments days before they’re due so I don’t have to worry about it. Hope to see you guys soon!

Dylan,

Whats up man? I hope high school is treating you well and you’re making sure to get your work done and keep the partying to a minimum. Different story up here at Oswego though! I know you’ve been thinking about coming up here for college and let me tell you, you will not be disappointed. Some of the parties and bars I’ve been to up here are absolutely INSANE and makes for a wild weekend. Best part is you’re on your own so you can do whatever you want, whenever you want. The lack of supervision can make for some stupid but very fun times. All of the RA’s are super cool and will let you do much of what you want, to an extent. Compared to the other university I was at, Oswego is so much more lenient when it comes to freedom in the dorms and on campus. Drinking almost seems like a culture up here so I really hope you’re ready for what you’re about to experience. Other than that, the girls up here are great looking so you won’t have any trouble finding your future wife!! Hope all is well and you make a trip up here soon.
